Walking, woods and wildness
My work features outdoor activities, travel and nature. I aim to help others connect with the natural world and appreciate its wonders.
My features appear in magazines, newspapers and online. I focus on Scotland, but also cover travel to other places in the UK and Europe.
I am the author of several walks guidebooks and update existing titles. My first narrative non-fiction book has the working title In the Wood of Dreams.
I shoot images to illustrate my magazine features and guidebooks, and also sell photos for use independent of my writing.
I write an occasional blog, often about places and wildlife that interest me, but which haven’t found space in magazine articles and books.

Ben Lawers is the tenth highest Munro in Scotland. Its altitude provides a suitably harsh habitat for a wide range of arctic and alpine species of plants that are otherwise rare in the UK.
Written by the ecologist at Mar Lodge, this book described what has been done to restore nature on the National Trust for Scotland estate.
